ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

What is Ridiculously Good?

Ridiculously Good is YouthCARE's peer-to-peer fundraising campaign inviting individuals, schools, churches, businesses and communities across Western Australia to do something they are ridiculously good at and use that gift to raise funds to further the work of YouthCARE. Whether it is a run, a bake sale, a talent show or a workplace challenge, your effort directly supports ridiculously good care for young Western Australians.

When does the campaign run?

The Ridiculously Good campaign runs over the month of May but will remain open for donations for the following month. You can register and start fundraising before the launch date to build early momentum.

FUNDRAISING

How do I find supporters?

The simplest way is to ask. When you sign up, you will receive your own fundraising page where you can add photos, videos, your personal story and your fundraising goal. Share the link via social media, SMS or email to invite your network to get behind your challenge.

When can I start fundraising?

You can start fundraising as soon as you register. Starting early helps - ask family, friends, neighbours, school, church or anyone in your network. People are often more willing to support than you expect.

Where can I get fundraising tips and ideas?

On the resources tab, you’ll find a range of promotional ideas to help you share and promote your challenge. Think about how you can best connect with family, friends, neighbours, school, church or anyone whether that’s through social media, email, SMS, or in person.

Should I ask for support before or after my challenge?

Start asking as soon as you register to build momentum. Sharing your challenge before it happens creates excitement and gives people something to cheer for. You can continue fundraising after completing your challenge to push your total even higher.

How can someone support me by credit card?

Log in to your dashboard, click Ask for Donations, and send the link to your fundraising page so supporters can give easily by card. If you are out and about, supporters can visit ridiculouslygood.com.au, find your profile, and donate directly. A tax-deductible receipt will be sent to them automatically by email.

Will offline pledges appear on my fundraising page?

No. Your fundraising page only displays donations that have been received and processed. If supporters have pledged cash, remind them to complete their donation online so it counts towards your total.

Can I invite someone to join me in the challenge?

Absolutely. When setting up your fundraising page, you can invite friends or colleagues to join your team or create their own challenge. You can also simply share the registration link so they can sign up directly at ridiculouslygood.com.au.

DONATING

Are online donations secure?

Yes. All donations are processed securely through Funraisin platform. Transactions are SSL-protected and both your information and your supporter's details are safely encrypted.

How do I donate to someone's challenge?

Visit ridiculouslygood.com.au, find the participant's fundraising page, click Donate, and enter your details. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt by email.

Can my donation be anonymous?

Yes. When making a donation, you can choose to have your name and amount kept private. Your donation will still count towards the participant's total.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes. All donations of $2 or more to YouthCARE are tax-deductible in Australia. A receipt will be sent automatically to your email address once your donation is processed.

Can I donate to the campaign generally rather than a specific person?

Yes. You can make a general donation to the Ridiculously Good campaign at ridiculouslygood.com.au without sponsoring a specific participant.

PARTICIPATING

How do I sign up?

Head to ridiculouslygood.com.au and click Create A Challenge. You can register as an individual or as part of a team. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with everything you need to set up your fundraising page and get started.

What challenge should I do?

Choose something you’re already ridiculously good at or naturally gifted in and turn it into a challenge for a great cause.

Think about what you enjoy or do regularly. It could be something active, creative, social, or even something that stretches you a little. The best challenges are ones that feel achievable, but still push you enough to stay motivated and inspire others to support you.

Most importantly, make it your own. When it’s something you care about or are gifted at, it’s easier to stay committed and make a bigger impact for young people in WA.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Ridiculously Good Walk, Run or Swim
  • Ridiculously Good Fitness Challenge (e.g. push-ups, sit-ups, star jumps)
  • Ridiculously Good Skill Challenge (e.g. soccer, basketball, hockey, juggling)
  • Ridiculously Good Bake Marathon – bake as much as you can for a purpose
  • Ridiculously Good Coffee Challenge – how many coffees can you make for a cause?
  • Ridiculously Good Talent Show
  • Ridiculously Good Cold Plunge Challenge
  • Ridiculously Good Read-a-thon
  • Ridiculously Good Mind Challenge (e.g. sudoku, Rubik’s cube, brain teasers)

Can I participate as part of a team?

Yes. Groups, workplaces, churches, schools and sporting clubs are encouraged to participate as a team. Team fundraising profiles are available on our site and often lead to stronger outcomes through friendly competition and shared motivation.

Can my school or church register as a group?

Yes. Schools can register as a Ridiculously Good School and churches can register as a Ridiculously Good Church using the Team registration process.

Is there a minimum fundraising amount?

There is no minimum, every dollar makes a difference. We encourage participants to set a personal fundraising goal that feels ambitious but achievable. You can always update your goal as your campaign builds momentum.

Is there a registration fee?

No. Signing up to Ridiculously Good is free.
