Support my challenge to care for young Western Australians

Every school day across Western Australia, 250,000 students walk into a school where someone knows their name. In 2025, YouthCARE chaplains and volunteers showed up in 600 school communities and 38 sporting clubs across the state, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

They sat with students navigating hard things, served nearly 700,000 meals through Breakfast Club, delivered 30,760 wellbeing sessions, and supported more than 10,000 athletes and their families on the sidelines.

260,000 people. One consistent presence. Ridiculously good care.

Your support helps provide ridiculously good care to young Western Australians.

Help me support YouthCARE today

I love walking and have a few different spots not far from home where I can see some of God's beautiful creation - trees, water, plants, flowers and animals.

As I walk I often pray - thanking God for what I see and talking to Him about the school communities where I work.
My goal is to walk every day through May.
Please join me by praying for school communities everywhere as you walk, either for exercise or just in the normal rhythm of your day, and donate to YouthCARE if you are able.

18th to 24th May

Sunday 24th May

Another full week but I was still able to fit a walk in every day – around my Local Park, on the treadmill at the gym or at Whiteman Park.

On Friday after a busy day at school, I changed into my walking shoes to do a few laps around my local park. I have probably walked around this park hundreds of times in the last ten years but on Thursday afternoon for the first time I noticed a stunning gum tree. I took a few photos and have established that it is a Eucalyptus leucoxylon pink flowering gum.

I guess there are many beautiful things in life we can miss if we are not looking for them, or sometimes they grow slowly and become beautiful, just like this tree.

Sunday 17th May

11th to 17th May

Sunday 17th May
It was a busy week but I managed to get out and walk every day.
Monday and Tuesday I walked around the local park after work. I was treated to the sounds of children playing and their parents chatting. On Monday eve there was a beautiful sunset, which my photo does not do justice to :(
Wednesday and Saturday I pounded away on the treadmill at the gym.
Thursday it rained :) So timing my walk was important. The photo shows the reflection in the footpath.
Friday and Sunday I was able to walk at my current favourite place, which was refreshed after the rain.
So good to know that even if things seem to be falling apart around us God is still in control.
Thank you Lord, for sunshine, rain, family and friends, health, employment and the many blessings You send our way every day. Help us to see them.

Monday 11th May
For the first five years of my life my family lived in Katanning. I can remember trips to Perth to visit extended family. On part of the journey there was a stretch of road where the tree tops from either side of the road seemed to reach out and touch each other.
I always experience feelings of comfort and safety when I am on roads where this happens.
On Friday I realised the trees on either side of the path I was walking on created an arch for me to walk under.
I once again experienced feelings of comfort and safety. Thanks Mum and Dad.

Saturday I was back in the gym on my preferred treadmill.

Sunday morning started with a walk and coffee with my lovely husband John. A very peaceful way to start Mothers Day. Thanks Darl.

Thursday 7th May
Tuesday (5th)  was an early start at school to help with the Breakfast Club, but at the end of the day I walked around my local park.
Wednesday (6th) I was back at the gym and started my time there on the treadmill.
This morning (7th) I walked at one of my favourite places and enjoyed the peace and quiet before launching into a busy day off.

Monday 4th May
This morning I was out walking in time to see the sun come up over the nearby buildings. Some lovely views, even in suburbia.

Late on Sunday afternoon I walked with a friend at one of my favourite nearby parks.
It was cool and quiet.
A beautiful way to end a Sunday.

A quick walk around my local park this morning - just a few minutes late for the sunrise but still a lovely way to start the day.
