Support my challenge to care for young Western Australians

Every school day across Western Australia, 250,000 students walk into a school where someone knows their name. In 2025, YouthCARE chaplains and volunteers showed up in 600 school communities and 38 sporting clubs across the state, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

They sat with students navigating hard things, served nearly 700,000 meals through Breakfast Club, delivered 30,760 wellbeing sessions, and supported more than 10,000 athletes and their families on the sidelines.

260,000 people. One consistent presence. Ridiculously good care.

Friday 22nd May
Week 3 started off in bed. Sick for 4 days, but then back up and at it. Feeling good now!

Tuesday 19th May
After a 4 day hiatus due to horrible flu🤒, I am back at.  Determined to make up the days at the beginning of June and praying I don't get sick again!  Here we goooo ....

I am a firm believer in being a person of integrity so am committed to being absolutely transparent in what I do! 
Today, I came down with the Flu, feeling feverish and exhausted. I spent most of the day in bed so could not get my steps in today. 
As a result, I will do an extra day at the beginning of June to make up for it!

Can’t say it has been easy!

I can’t say that this challenge has been easy! Getting up in the dark and cold and going for a walk when one is not a morning person😰. Finally sitting down at 10pm for a cup of tea before bed and realising that I still have 1 000 more steps to go😳 But that’s why it is a challenge, right? I am reminding myself of who I am doing this for - those whose daily lives are a challenge. Those who are vulnerable and hurting! All this money raised goes straight back to supporting them! I can do the hard 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️

Wow, thank you so much to my sponsors!  I really did not think that I would get any so sponsored myself!  Thank you, much appreciated and I won't let you down!  I have been walking everyday and have been posting my steps on Facebook.  When my daughter can help me, it gets posted on Instagram - not very tech' savy here!  Every now and again, I will post my updates on here too.  
I am passionate about mental health and supporting the children and school staff in my little sphere! This is why I am doing this challenge.

Walking Challenge of 10000 steps a day, regardless of the weather

Thursday 23rd Apr
Over the month of May, I will be walking 10 000 steps, 6 to 7 days a week. This represents the nearly 10 000 School Staff and over 100 000 students in WA who are supported by Chaplains every year. 
I am doing this to raise awareness of YouthCare and the 400+ Chaplains who support schools in Western Australia every week.
