Support my challenge to care for young Western Australians

Every school day across Western Australia, 250,000 students walk into a school where someone knows their name. In 2025, YouthCARE chaplains and volunteers showed up in 600 school communities and 38 sporting clubs across the state, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

They sat with students navigating hard things, served nearly 700,000 meals through Breakfast Club, delivered 30,760 wellbeing sessions, and supported more than 10,000 athletes and their families on the sidelines.

260,000 people. One consistent presence. Ridiculously good care.

Your support helps provide ridiculously good care to young Western Australians.

Help me support YouthCARE today

For my Challenge I am choosing to draw 20 pieces of artwork with the number 101 182 in them, see if you can find it. 101,182 is the number of support sessions YouthCARE chaplains had with students across WA in 2025.
These support conversations give students a chance to be heard, encouraged and seek help. An opportunity that for some may not exist anywhere else in there lives.
For each donation of $100 or more I will create an artwork that not only has the number 101.182 in it but also depicts a humorous situation that might be seen in my school.

My Updates

Yay! Stray Dog

Saturday 30th May
This drawing is for Tony and Dianne, thanks for your $215 donation. There is always much excitement when a stray dog wanders onto the school site. I am not sure who has more fun the kids or the dog.

The School Garden

Saturday 30th May
This drawing is for Anonymous, thanks for your $126 donation. We have a great school garden and kids love picking what it produces and tending to the plants. A place that provides lots of potential adventures.

What a shot!

Friday 29th May
This drawing is for Anonymous, thanks for your $126 donation. An oldie but a goodie the scrunched up paper shot for the bin, I could not even guess how many times a day this would happen in classrooms.

School Incursion

Thursday 28th May
This drawing is for Mel and Marc, Thank you for your $267 donation. Each year we have many great incursions to our school but imagine if one was a petting zoo and it didn't quite go to plan.

Drawing 19

Thursday 28th May
At the start of the challenge I committed to drawing 20 pictures in May with the number 101,182 in them (the number of student support meetings chaplains had across WA in 2025) This is the 2nd last picture. So watch out for the last one on May 31st and there are  a few more over $100 donation school scene pictures to come too.

Lining up?

Wednesday 27th May
This drawing is for Anonymous, thanks for your $100 donation. This drawing is about when the excitement of what might be happening inside, over rides your training to line up in two straight lines.

Cramming before school

Tuesday 26th May
This drawing is for David, thanks for your $100 donation. I am often amused at the scene before school when many of our students are getting their last fix of screen time before phones are off for the school day.

Drawing 18

Tuesday 26th May
Even sharks need holidays.

The build up breaks

Monday 25th May
This drawing is for Cheryl, thanks for your $100 donation. After months of build up it is a relief to finally get rain. Every one gets a little bit excited and trying to keep kids at school out of the water is a pretty big challenge.

Assembly Day

Sunday 24th May
This drawing is for Anonymous Thank you for your $500 donation. The cause of much excitement, when your class gets to host the assembly and always entertaining seeing the creativity that goes into producing the assembly.

Drawing 17

Sunday 24th May
One of my favorite creatures, I love seeing the frilled neck lizards around the place.

Drawing 16

Saturday 23rd May
A teacup pig for Saturday.

Water 'play'

Friday 22nd May
This drawing is for the Boyce family, thank you for your $106 donation. A trip to the water fountain should be a straight forward task but much entertainment is there to be had, if you get creative, usually ending up with someone being wetter than they should be.

Drawing 15

Thursday 21st May
Duck!

Escaping the plovers

Wednesday 20th May
This drawing is for Anonymous, thank you for your $106 donation. The plovers always make their nests in the most inconvenient places and they love to swoop you if you get too close.

Drawing 14

Wednesday 20th May
Let's try a break-dancing baboon for today.

Drawing 13

Tuesday 19th May
It's a Batman kind of day. Have just passed $4000 in fundraising , thanks everyone for your generosity in donations and encouraging words.

Locked Out

Monday 18th May
This drawing is for Anonymous, thanks for your $529 donation. This drawing is for all those times when a class is ready to get to work in the computer lab, only to find that no one can log in. Thankfully we have an amazing IT guy to rescue us.

How many can we get on?

Sunday 17th May
This Drawing is for Rell, Jug, Callen and Paxton, thanks for your $106 donation. This picture is the game of pushing the limits that students play, how many people can we get on this branch before it breaks. Also a small salute to school gardeners who are a special breed that have to put up with a lot.

Drawing 12

Sunday 17th May
This one might be my favourite.

Drawing 11

Saturday 16th May
Some flowers for Saturday.

The Dress Up Box

Friday 15th May
This Drawing is for Mal and Wendy. Thanks for your $159 donation. The dress up box  is something I started doing in 2007. The box comes out each Monday and anyone is welcome to come and dress up. Many children have enjoyed making stylish or crazy dress up combinations. It seems a favourite pastime is to also dress me up, which gets a bit rough when it is 40 degrees and I am wearing an overcoat. The excitement from the students when the box comes out is worth it though.

Drawing 10

Thursday 14th May
I like drawing robots, there is so much you can do with them. This is one of the first characters I designed and he has worn many different outfits over the years but today he is in his original state.

Drawing 9

Wednesday 13th May
Todays drawing, a space monkey because, why not.

Spring Ring Battles

Tuesday 12th May
This picture is for Anj, thanks for your $100 donation. The "spring ring" is a popular choice of lunchtime activity, with adjustable height and spring loaded rings there are many dunk battles to be had.

Drawing 8

Monday 11th May
Drawing number 8.

Shot on goal

Sunday 10th May
This drawing is for Perin, thanks for your $100 donation. The school oval has seen many games of footy big and small and there are always some creative ways to distract the shot on goal.

Drawing 7

Sunday 10th May
A convict hammerhead for today.

Feeding the kites.

Saturday 9th May
This drawing is for Mandy, thanks for your $100 donation.  A favourite lunchtime activity at school, feeding the kites, who are not afraid to swoop down and help themselves to a tasty sandwich.

Drawing 6

Friday 8th May
Day 8 and here's a tricky one for you today, try your hardest to spot that magic number 101,182, the number of chaplains sessions with students across WA in 2025.

Drawing 5

Thursday 7th May
Drawing 5 done and dusted.

Drawing 4

Wednesday 6th May
Day number 6 and still going strong, I have got plenty more ideas coming your way and keeping looking for the number 101, 182 in each drawing.

Stuck in the tree.

Tuesday 5th May
This drawing is for Helen, thanks for your $106 donation. This one is about what happens at school when something gets stuck in the tree, all sort of creative ways are tried to get the item out and inevitably more things get stuck in the tree. I got a bit board with drawing people so I made the kids Koalas in this one just for fun.

Drawing 3

Monday 4th May
4 days into the challenge. Having a great time drawing and thinking about all those conversations that are happening with Chaplains across our state.

It's windy! Are you OK?

Monday 4th May
This drawing is for Melissah, Thanks for your $106 donation. RUOK? Day in Kununurra always seems to be windy and cause grief with our banners.

Drawing 2

Sunday 3rd May
I am enjoying the challenge and trying to get creative with the use of the number 101182.  2 drawings down down 18 to go.

End Of Year Skip

Saturday 2nd May
This picture is for Steve, Thanks for your $267 donation. This picture is called "End of year skip" where a trip to the skip bin is always an adventure.

Let the drawing begin!

Friday 1st May
Thanks for all the support for the Ridiculously Good challenge. Here is the first drawing of my challenge. Don't forget to keep looking out for the number 101182  in the pictures. This is the number of student support meetings YouthCARE chaplains had with students in 2025 across WA, representing the life changing support that chaplains  are able to give students seeking support and a listening ear.  Also keep your eye out for the special drawings for donations of over $100 which will depict a humorous scene that you might see at our school.
