100km with kids, to support those supporting kids across WA
On the same day this campaign launches, my wife and I are expecting our fourth child — so I’m adding another challenge into the mix in May: 100km with kids!
I’m turning my love for walking and running into a challenge, to support the ridiculously good work of chaplains in schools across Western Australia.
Whilst in the baby bubble, I’ll be taking our three eldest, energetic children on various adventures, and more importantly — taking them on this journey towards Ridiculously Good Impact.
Disclaimer: this will probably be a little wild, but it will be worth it!
It will look something like: walking a kilometre and then stopping for snacks, one child scooting ahead, another dragging behind, and someone ending up being carried.
I’m sure that some days we’ll get the distance done, and some days we won’t — but we’ll keep showing up, together.
In many ways, this feels connected to the important work of a chaplain — journeying with children, walking alongside at their pace, conquering challenges together.
While 100km can seem big, the impact of YouthCARE chaplains is much bigger — helping more than 100,000 students every year.
If you’ve been thinking about creating a Ridiculously Good Challenge, consider this your encouragement — don’t wait until life feels calmer, or you feel fitter, or until your kids can “keep up.”
And if you’ve been considering making a donation — this is your moment to step up.
I’m stepping up to 100km with kids, and I’d greatly value your support.
Together, let’s make a Ridiculously Good Impact!

Halfway to 100km with kids, in May!
Tuesday 19th May
We are now halfway through May, and what a month it has been thus far — ridiculously good even!
Since launching this challenge, our fourth child has arrived safe and sound — and in the middle of the newborn chaos, I’m now halfway to 100km with (the older three) kids in May.
What started as a mix of walking, running, scooting, snack stops, carrying tired kids, and plenty of memorable moments — has become a reminder that progress beats perfection.
I’m taking on this challenge to support the ridiculously good work of YouthCARE chaplains, who walk alongside children and young people across Western Australia every day.
Some days we hit the distance, and some days we don’t. But we keep going — together.
In many ways, it reflects the work of a chaplain: meeting kids where they’re at, journeying with them, and helping them through challenges big and small.
While 100km feels significant, the impact of YouthCARE chaplains is far greater — supporting more than 100,000 students across WA each year.
If you are thinking about supporting the campaign, I’d greatly value your encouragement and support as we continue the journey towards Ridiculously Good Impact!
