Support my challenge to care for young Western Australians

Every school day across Western Australia, 250,000 students walk into a school where someone knows their name. In 2025, YouthCARE chaplains and volunteers showed up in 600 school communities and 38 sporting clubs across the state, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

They sat with students navigating hard things, served nearly 700,000 meals through Breakfast Club, delivered 30,760 wellbeing sessions, and supported more than 10,000 athletes and their families on the sidelines.

260,000 people. One consistent presence. Ridiculously good care.

Your support helps provide ridiculously good care to young Western Australians.

500 postcards in 31 days—the challenge is ON!

Chaplains provide a listening ear and a glimmer of hope during life’s hardest moments. To support this vital work, I’m challenging myself to send 500 postcards of encouragement throughout the month of May.
I’ve always found my greatest joy in lifting others up with a kind word, and I want to put that gift to work for a cause that matters. Every donation helps me reach my goal of 500 handwritten notes, ensuring that while I’m filling letterboxes with hope, we’re raising the essential funds needed to increase support of School Chaplaincy services available for our School communities. Join me in spreading a little more light, one postcard at a time.

My Updates

School days

Sunday 24th May
Tomorrow I am off to work to deliver these words of encouragement to Staff and community members as part of the 500 cards in 31 Days.

Some time this week I plan to go around the streets of my suburb and deliver cards of encouragement.  That will be my next update.  Only 1 week to go.  Thank you for your support of the YouthCARE Ridiculously Good Challenge.

Why Encouragement?

Wednesday 20th May
Everyday in my Schools I see students, staff and families in dark situations.  Despite these challenges they keep going and some days when it gets too much the smallest.  "You are ennough." or "I see that you are trying." can make the difference that is needed for someone to take the next step.  Encouragement is also free!  Even if you only have 5 minutes in your day - Stop, listen and then let the person in front of you know that you have HEARD them.  People need to be heard before they need help.  In fact in the face of difficulty people often don't require a hand up or a hand out.  The smallest word can change the course of most people's day.

This challenge has already been such a gift to me which I did not expect.  Thank you to those who have encouraged me and for those who have donated to the YouthCARE challenge.  I will be more active me my posting in the next 11 days as we all head to the end of our challenges.  Have a great day!

Wellness Wednesday!

Wednesday 20th May
Sending some time this morning on writing encouragement cards. It is so close to my heart for others to know they are seen and heard.

The cards are on their way! I am starting the 1st of May
