Support my challenge to care for young Western Australians

Every school day across Western Australia, 250,000 students walk into a school where someone knows their name. In 2025, YouthCARE chaplains and volunteers showed up in 600 school communities and 38 sporting clubs across the state, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern.

They sat with students navigating hard things, served nearly 700,000 meals through Breakfast Club, delivered 30,760 wellbeing sessions, and supported more than 10,000 athletes and their families on the sidelines.

260,000 people. One consistent presence. Ridiculously good care.

Your support helps provide ridiculously good care to young Western Australians.

Help me support YouthCARE today

I am going to WingFoil 100 kms in May!

I love being in the ocean, I love being active and I love sharing the fun with family and friends.  Learning to wingfoil over the last 4 years has required me to push through significant physical, emotional and seasonal weather challenges.  I enjoy the exhilaration of this incredible sport and the sense of flow and calm being in harmony with the wind and sea.

When we are fully immersed in an activity and lose track of time, we enter a state of flow. It is so beneficial to find something that allows us to be present in the moment.  This is especially valuable for young people as they navigate life's challenges.

Flow helps young people to lower stress and anxiety, builds confidence and resilience as they overcome challenges, and strengthens focus and a sense of purpose.

61km towards my goal! The challenge of the season.

Thursday 28th May

61km towards my goal! The challenge of life’s difficult seasons 🩵💜🤍

This May, I set myself the ambitious challenge of wing foiling 100km in support of YouthCARE Chaplaincy in WA. 🙌 The light autumn winds, however, have made that goal harder to reach than I expected. 😬

It has created an opportunity to reflect on the different seasons we all walk through in life — the times when expectations go unmet and goals feel just out of reach. Yet it’s often in these challenging seasons that we make conscious choices to keep moving forward, to keep hoping, and to keep believing that progress is still possible, even when conditions aren’t ideal.

🙌🙏 As Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” Life moves through seasons of joy, struggle, growth, loss, and renewal — and each season shapes us in different ways.

Of course, my wing foiling challenge is very small in comparison to the deep seasons of grief and loss that many people experience, and I want to humbly acknowledge this. 🙏

💜 As a Chaplain, I have the privilege of supporting students and families through some of life’s hardest moments — offering care, presence, encouragement, and hope when it is needed most. Even in the most difficult seasons, I continue to see the strength of community, the power of kindness, and the incredible resilience of the human spirit. 🤍

So while I may or may not reach the full 100km this month, I’m reminded that every kilometre matters — just like every small act of hope, support, and encouragement can make a difference in someone’s life. 🙌💜🤍

Out of my comfort zone!

Friday 15th May
15kms further towards my goal!
Last weekend's Autumn wind patterns made way for an adventure to a beach where I had not foiled before.  The onshore wind and swell looked very daunting so I took some time to assess the conditions.  After an hour of watching the ocean and other foilers, a couple of encouraging conversations from fellow foilers on the beach I decided to rig up.
Thankfully my son Kobi was there to swim out with my wing, allowing me to focus on my board as we punched through the shore break.
I made it to clear water and launched!  My encouraging husband led me across the swells to show me the best direction to sail and I DID IT!
Thanks to Kobi we have some drone footage of the day! Another milestone achieved pushing out of my comfort zone!
High fives and a HAPPY Dance were had when I made it back to the beach safely.

18 kms done! Staying calm in the impact zone.

Saturday 2nd May
I have set a goal for 100kms in the season of Autumn which may pose an environmental challenge with the lighter winds.  This weekend was great! A short session on sunset and then another at Gracetown with my husband, son and great foiling mates.
I am learning to ride the waves and caught one that began to pick up. I wasn't able to manage the speed so I fell.  When I came up I saw I was in the impact zone, a wall of white water coming towards me. I had to push my gear away and dive under, hoping that my board, foil, wing and body would not get tangled.  Another wall of white water came through and I dived under again.  Thankfully all was well - no damage to my gear or myself!  I got up and out of there pronto - into smoother and safer waters
Staying calm is so important in a wipeout.  It helps you conserve energy, think clearly and regain control more efficiently.
