372000 steps in May... Why?
This May, I'm walking 372,000 steps to represent the approx. number of students and staff in WA State schools, that YouthCARE support across WA and aim to raise $3720.00 ($1 per 100 people).
That's a lot of steps. But honestly, it feels like the least I can do.
Working at YouthCARE, I know up close what our chaplains and volunteers do every day. We show up, quietly and consistently, for people who are carrying a lot...
Anxiety, loneliness, pressure, uncertainty.
Most of the time you'd never know, because people are pretty good at just keeping on....
But having someone there who notices, who listens, who doesn't disappear when things get hard? That changes things. It gives people a sense that they're not on their own. That they matter.
That's what YouthCARE calls Ridiculously Good care, and it's why I want to help more young people access it.
So I'll be logging the steps and seeing this through, even on the days I really don't feel like it.
